OYO is a stronghold of ADC. Jubilation everywhere as National Working Committee announces its gubernatorial candidate for Oyo state.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Thursday, declared Senator Olufemi Lanlehin as the governorship candidate of the party in Oyo State.

The atmosphere was agog with jubilation as party faithfuls express their happiness over the emergence of  Lanlehin.

A statement signed by the party’s national publicity secretary, Mrs Yemi Kolapo, said the chairman, Screening and Primary Committee, Peter Oyewole, a lawyer, who announced the governorship candidate, said Lanlehin emerged the winner after “a keenly contested primary involving 13 aspirants.”

The Senate has passed the Electoral Act No. 6 (2010 Amendment) Bill 2017 into law. See the salient features: 1. There shall now be full biometric accreditation of voters with Smart Card Readers and/or other technological devices, as INEC may introduce for elections from time to time. 2. Presiding Officers must now instantly transmit accreditation data and results from Polling Units to various collation centers. Presiding officer who contravene this shall be imprisoned for at least 5 years (no option of fine). 3. All Presiding Officer must now first record accreditation data and polling results on INEC’s prescribed forms before transmitting them.
